Privacy policy

Last updated 3 October 2026

Lela Store (lela-store.com) is a stock and sales management platform for shops in Ethiopia. This policy explains what information the platform collects, why, where it is kept, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It covers the web app at lela-store.com and its API at api.lela-store.com.

Who is responsible

Lela Store runs the platform and is responsible for the information in it. A shop owner decides what their shop records about its own customers and suppliers; for that information we act on the shop owner's behalf. Questions about this policy go to [email protected].

What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address and phone number, the shops you belong to and your role in each, and your password — stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form. Your calendar and language choices.
  • Registration: what you send when you ask for a shop — your name, email, phone, password, the shop's name and sector and an optional message — and a one-time code we email to confirm the address.
  • Your shop's records: the shop's name, phone, address, TIN and logo; products, prices, costs and stock; sales, receipts and payments; customers and suppliers (the names, phone numbers, TIN, addresses and notes the shop enters) and what they owe; goods received, expenses, money accounts and the photos attached to them.
  • Technical information: sign-in cookies that keep you signed in; the IP address of sign-in and registration attempts, kept in memory to stop password guessing; a log of significant actions in a shop (who signed in, who recorded or voided a sale) so the owner and the platform can see what happened; and a log of the emails we send.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not collect your location.

How we use it

  • to run the app: sign you in, keep your shop's records and show them to the people your shop allows;
  • to send the emails the app needs: passwords, password resets, confirmation codes and notices about your shop;
  • to keep the platform secure and working: limit sign-in attempts, investigate problems, and manage each shop's membership;
  • to answer you when you contact us.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Google Sheets

A shop owner can choose to connect Google Sheets from Reports, to keep a copy of the shop's records in their own Google Drive. Nothing is connected unless the owner signs in with Google and agrees on Google's own screen.

  • What we ask Google for: your Google account's email address (to show which account is connected) and the drive.file permission, which lets Lela Store create a spreadsheet and edit only the files Lela Store itself created. We cannot see, open or list any other file in your Drive.
  • What we do with it: create one spreadsheet in your Drive and, each time you tap Sync now, write your shop's records into it — sales, products, customers, suppliers, deliveries, money and expenses. We never read your data out of the sheet and never use it for anything else.
  • What we keep: the spreadsheet's address, the connected email address, and the access token Google gives us, encrypted, so that Sync now works without signing in again. We keep no copy of anything from your Google account beyond that.
  • Who sees it: no one else. Google user data is not shared with or sold to anyone, is not used for advertising, and is not used to develop, improve or train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Our staff do not read it, except with your permission to help you, for security, or where the law requires it.
  • Stopping it: tap Disconnect on Reports — we then tell Google to cancel our access and stop writing. You can also remove Lela Store at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The spreadsheet stays in your Drive and is yours to keep or delete.

Lela Store's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Who else handles your information

We use a few service providers to run the platform, each only for its part:

  • Amazon Web Services (Stockholm, Sweden) — hosts the API, the database and uploaded photos;
  • Cloudflare — serves the web app;
  • Resend — sends the app's emails;
  • Google — Google Sheets, only when a shop owner connects it (above); and Google Gemini, only when an owner uses the AI helper to set up products, which receives the description of the shop the owner types and nothing else.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it. Your information may be processed outside Ethiopia by these providers.

How long we keep it

A shop's records are kept while the shop uses the platform — sales and payments are never silently erased, so the shop's figures always add up. When a shop leaves the platform, or you ask us to delete your account, we delete the information within 30 days, except what we must keep by law. Unconfirmed registration requests are removed after a short time.

Security

The platform is reached only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, Google tokens are encrypted, and every shop's records are kept apart from every other shop's. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell affected shops if something goes wrong.

Your choices

You can see and correct your name, phone and password on your profile. A shop owner can keep a copy of the shop's records in Google Sheets and disconnect it at any time. To get a copy of your information, or to have it deleted, write to [email protected].

Children

The platform is for businesses and is not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

When this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. If a change is significant, we tell shop owners in the app or by email.
